Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas has raised concerns over the welfare of Anganwadi workers in Goa, emphasizing their crucial role in rural development and community health. Speaking on the issue, he highlighted the urgent need to improve their working conditions and provide them with essential benefits.

Capt. Viegas stressed that Anganwadi workers are the backbone of child nutrition, maternal health, and early education in Goa’s villages. However, despite their significant contribution, they continue to face inadequate wages, job insecurity, and lack of social security.

To recognize their indispensable role, he demanded the following key benefits for Anganwadi workers: Fair wages in line with the cost of living Regularization of their employment status,Retirement funds to ensure financial security, Health coverage for medical emergencies, Paid leave and better working conditions,Training and resource support to enhance their efficiency, Additional staff and improved retention policies to ease their workload“Anganwadi workers are the first line of defense in rural healthcare and child welfare. They must be treated with dignity and provided with the necessary support to continue their vital work,” Capt. Viegas stated.

The AAP MLA urged the Goa government to take immediate action and implement these reforms to ensure the welfare of thousands of Anganwadi workers across the state.
