Samvidhan Bachao Yatra’ Launched from Mandrem to Safeguard Democracy and Address Local Issues
Mandrem : In a strong assertion of democratic values and public solidarity, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) launched the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Yatra’ from Mandrem, aiming to safeguard the Constitution and amplify the voices of Goans against the perceived threats to democracy under the BJP-led government.
The Yatra witnessed an overwhelming response from the public, with citizens joining in large numbers to express their concern over what they described as continued attempts by the BJP government to undermine democratic institutions and processes. The initiative seeks to foster a more just and inclusive social environment in Goa.
“The people’s support clearly reflects their awareness and growing discontent with the BJP’s style of governance,” said GPCC President Amit Patkar, adding, “United, we will continue this noble fight to protect the Constitution and democracy.”
During the Yatra, Congress leaders engaged with local residents and assured them that their key concerns would be raised during the upcoming Monsoon Assembly Session. These included:
CRZ violations and coastal regulation concerns
Lack of adequate health facilities in the region
Menace of bouncers and associated law and order issues
Other pressing local developmental matters
Prominent leaders present during the Yatra included former Union Law Minister Adv. Ramakant Khalap, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Amarnath Panajikar, Mandrem Block President Narayan Redkar, and several local Congress functionaries.
The ‘Samvidhan Bachao Yatra’ marks a renewed effort by the Congress party in Goa to build grassroots-level engagement and take people-centric issues to the Assembly floor, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the democratic ethos.
