Shabdsharda Porvorim :- landmark step towards promoting mobility and independence among persons with disabilities, the Minister for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, handed over wheelchair-accessible e-rickshaws to ten beneficiaries at a special function in Porvorim.
The event was organized by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with Goa Miles. Dignitaries present included State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Shri Guruprasad Pawaskar, Director of the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Smt Varsha Naik, and MD & Founder of Goa Miles Shri Utkarsh Dabhade.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Subhash Phal Dessai emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities. He highlighted how these specially designed e-rickshaws would empower individuals by providing them with safe, comfortable, and independent transportation options.
The initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which has been actively working to improve the lives of persons with disabilities through various welfare programs. The wheelchair-accessible e-rickshaws will not only ease mobility challenges but also encourage greater participation in social and economic activities.
